Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I put my dog in daycare?

Dogs need exercise and mental stimulation! So instead of them waiting for you at home alone, let them come, have fun and be dogs! A tired dog is a happy dog. A tired dog also does not destroy things in the house, which is a big bonus! Daycare is also good for those high energy dogs that you just can’t walk enough. Drop them off once or twice a week to burn off some energy and give yourself a break!

How do I start the process of getting my dog into daycare?

Currently we are only taking dogs who have completed one of our classes or done private training with us.  The first step is filling out our online waiver and consent form and sending us your dog’s updated vaccination records. Once we have that information, we will arrange for your dog’s intro day. The intro day is up to a maximum of 5 hours and designed so we can assess to see if our daycare is the right fit for your dog. You have to be available to pick up your dog if we call anytime within that 5hrs if we decide daycare is not the right fit.

What does ‘trainer led daycare’ mean?

Not all dog daycares are run by certified dog trainers who are trained in dog behaviour and play styles. Since we are led by our certified trainers, you can be assured that your dog will be safe and properly cared for. All staff in the daycare have also been personally trained by us so everyone knows what to watch out for to keep your dog safe and happy. We make sure everyone is extensively educated in dog behaviour, dog body language and dog play.

How will my dog be treated in daycare?

Like family! We understand a dog is not just a dog, he/she is a member of your family and we treat them accordingly. Your dog will be cared for like our own. We also believe in positive reinforcement training so you can be assure there will be no use of force, fear, or punishment to get your dog to behaviour. We believe in rewards like praise and treats to shape wanted behaviours.

Why does my dog need to be dropped off before 10am?

We are a kennel free daycare which means the day must be designed so the dogs can all be on similar energy levels. We play in the morning, have nap time in the afternoon and then play some more! If we brought a fresh dog in during the afternoon, it would interfere with a much needed nap time (yes they do actually all sleep together!). It also just wouldn’t be fair or safe introducing a dog who is ready to play into a group of very tired pups!

When are we closed for daycare?

We are closed over the Christmas breaks following the Delta School Board schedule.  We are also closed for daycare on any stat holiday.

Is the daycare indoors?

We currently have two locations Good Hound Downtown and Good Hound Country. The Good Hound Downtown is a 1400sq ft indoor space and the Good Hound Country is a 19,000 sq ft indoor and outdoor space. This means your dog will offered the best spot for them to have the most fun. Our indoor space has rubber flooring for the ultimate comfort for your dogs paws that is cleaned frequently.

If it’s indoors, where does my dog go to the bathroom?

We provide free private walks for all of our doggie clients so they can get some fresh air and do their business! We also find these private walks give dogs a much needed break from all the stimulation and the solo time with our handlers promotes bonding.

Does my dog need vaccinations?

Yes! All dogs require the rabies, DHPP and Bordetella vaccines

Do you accept titre tests?

Yes! There is no need to over vaccinate your dog for daycare. For this reason, we accept titre tests to ensure your dog is protected.

Does my dog have to be spayed/neutered!

All dogs over 8 months of age must be spayed or neutered to attend daycare.

Do you accept bully breeds?

YES! As long as your dog is dog and human friendly, they have a place with us! We love our pit bulls, staffys, mastiffs, bull dogs and more!
