Grooming FAQ

What services do you offer?

We offer a variety of services to suit your pets needs. Including full haircuts, bath and trim services and bath and brush grooms for short and long-haired dogs. We also offer additional services that can be added on to any package.

How often should my dog be groomed?

The frequency of grooming depends on your dogs breed, coat type, and the amount of time you are willing to spend on at home maintenance. Long haired dogs and heavy shedding breeds should be kept on a 4 to 6 week schedule, whereas a short haired dog or a dog kept in a short trim can be on an 8 to 10 week schedule.

When should my puppy get their first haircut?

Puppies should get into the groomer as soon as possible, usually after their second set of vaccinations. They should receive a puppy intro groom (bath and tidy) before getting their first haircut, which would include a bath, blow dry, brushing, nail trim, and light trimming to get them used to being handled before diving into a full haircut. Dogs that need grooming, will need to be for their entire lives so it’s best to get puppies in right away to build a positive association with grooming rather than waiting too long and making grooming difficult for the rest of their lives.

How long does the grooming process take?

Most grooms take between an hour and a half to three hours, depending on the size of the dog, the dogs coat condition, the dogs behavior, and the service request requested.

How much does grooming cost?

Our pricing varies by the size of the dog, the dog’s coat type, the condition of the coat and the services each individual dog requires. There’s also additional services that can be added on at an extra cost.  Please see our Pricing Page for more detailed information.

Yes! Even though short haired dogs don’t require haircuts they still benefit from regular grooming! Frequent bathing and brushing will help keep their skin and hair follicles healthy, and will help to maintain shedding coats. Short haired dogs also require regular nail trims and ear cleaning.

My dog is scared/anxious for grooming, will you still be able to do the service?

Why is there a matting fee?

The extra charge is there to compensate for the additional time, physical labour, wear and tear on equipment and expertise required to handle unmaintained coats.

Why was my dog shaved when I asked for a fluffy trim?

In cases of severe matting coats may need to be shaved as it is too painful to brush out and shaving is the most humane option to avoid distress or injury to the dog. At home maintenance and regular scheduled grooming is required for most dogs in order to keep a cute and healthy coat.
