We are happy to add a new training to our team and introduce
Andy Carr of K9 Detection Sports!
A little about Andy
Andy was introduced to K9 Nose Work® while volunteering in a local animal shelter and instantly recognized its’ value for both his personal, challenged adopted dogs as well as for the use in the shelter as an enrichment tool to help the shelter dogs better cope with, what is for most dogs, a very stressful place. That initial introduction was one of those pieces of the puzzle that came together to shape a new direction for how he interacted, trained, played and observed our best friends, the dog.
Andy is a fully accredited through the National Association of Canine Sent Work (NACSW) as a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI). He continues to trial with his two Rottweilers, 14 year old Ice (semi retired, only doing the really fun low stress stuff) and 13 year old Ripley. Both dogs were adopted from the BCSPCA.
Introduction to K9 Nose Work
This class introduces the fun concepts of the K9 Nose Work ® game!
You will learn how to encourage and develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities to get your dog excited about using his or her nose to find a favorite treat reward hidden in containers, vehicles and interior and exterior search areas. Emphasis is on building confidence and focus in your dog in a fun and safe environment. This class is the foundation for the more advanced classes, there is no prerequisite and it is appropriate for virtually any dog regardless of age, breed or physical limitations.
